Ashbourne Show runs a number of competitions for young local artists. Details of all classes are listed in the schedule downloadable form the Craft Produce and Art Exhibitors page.

The three main Art Competitions:
• The Primary Schools Art Competition is for children who attend any one of the local primary schools. The winner will have their picture feature on the front cover of the Show Guide that is given to everyone attending this year’s Ashbourne Show.

This year’s theme is ‘Agriculture and the Sea’ and your picture should be on A4 sized paper. Entries close on 31 May and a winner will be selected shortly afterwards.

All entrants will have their pictures displayed in the Craft, Produce and Art tent during the show. Please contact your teachers if you want to enter.

• 11 – 16 Year Old Art Competition for a drawing or painting in any media. Targeted at those studying or wanting to study art at GCSE level or above, entrant may submit up to two works that should not be bigger than A” in size. There is no set subject or theme.

• 17 – 21 Year Old Art Competition for a drawing or painting in any media. Primarily for those studding art at A Level or University. Two works up to A2 in size may be submitted by each entrant.

There is no set subject or theme.

Please note that each entrant may only be awarded one prize. In the event that an entrant’s second piece is selected, they will receive a commendation and the prize awarded to the pieced judged to be the next best.
